TankPup Relay for Windows

For an ATG console that isn’t reachable from the internet, such as one wired to a second network card on a PC at the site. TankPup Relay runs on that PC and connects the console to TankPup over an outgoing HTTPS connection, so there’s no port forwarding, VPN or firewall rule to set up.

Setting it up

  1. In the TankPup app, add the site (or edit it) and turn on Connect through TankPup Relay. For the address, use the console’s address on the site’s network, such as 192.168.1.50.
  2. Save, then on the same screen choose Get pairing code.
  3. On the PC wired to the console, download and run TankPup Relay. Allow it to make changes, then type the pairing code.
  4. It checks it can reach the console, then keeps running in the background whenever the PC is on, even when nobody is signed in. The app shows it as connected.

Windows may say it protected your PC from an unrecognized app. Choose More info, then Run anyway.

To connect another console on the same PC, get a code for that site and run TankPup Relay again.

What the PC needs

  • To reach the console (the TankPup Relay setup checks this).
  • Internet access: an outgoing HTTPS connection to www.tankpup.com. Nothing coming in.
  • To stay on: set it never to sleep, or TankPup loses touch with the console while it does.

How it keeps the site safe

  • It only connects to the consoles it was paired with, whatever it’s asked, so it can’t be used to reach anything else on the site’s network.
  • For TLS-450PLUS, TLS4 and EVO consoles the connection is encrypted from TankPup all the way to the console: the PC passes it along without being able to read it, or the console’s password.
  • Unpairing it in the app (Edit site → TankPup Relay) stops it at once.

To remove it from the PC, open Command Prompt as administrator and run: "C:\Program Files\TankPup Relay\tankpup-relay.exe" uninstall
